Description of where what is within CPGB main directory (applies to tar files as well). yy:ddd.dasn.SSS.log = logfile from ref2segy for station SSS (DAS dasn) made on Julian day ddd of year 19yy yy:ddd.dasn.SSS.err = errfile corresponding to logfile yy:ddd.dasn.SSS.pcf = PASSCAL clock file derived from .log file and used in making CSS database .wfdisc files (with soh2db.full, in scripts directory). Mildly editted to avoid silly failures yy:ddd.dasn.SSS.ccf = corrected PASSCAL clock file from rateclean run on .pcf. Only used after about day tape 6. Shouldn't have much, if any, impact. Data: Rddd.01/ = directory of segy format compressed data from ref2segy files within these have been renamed yy.ddd.hh.mm.ss.SSS.C.Z, where the lowercase part is the time at the beginning of the trace, SSS is the station name, C is the presumed component (V,N,E usually from channels 4,5,6), and .Z indicates it is compressed. Directories consume about 80-120 Mb. Event_Gathers/ = directory containing CSS db files for event gathers (described below) plus subdirectories oridxxxxx, where xxxxx is the event id number for this experiment (in the qed.current file also here). Data within the subdirectories are SAC format, named yyyydddhhmm.ss.SSS.CCC.Z, where the lower case is the time of the start of the record (to integral seconds), SSS is the station name, CCC is the component (e.g., BHZ = broadband high-gain vertical) and .Z indicates (if present) that the file was compressed. Note that all traces are here, both those with refrate corrections and those without. Examine the EventDB.wfdisc and EventDB_NoTime.wfdisc (below) to determine if a trace has correct timing. Calibrations/ = directory of calpulses manually extracted from the continuous data; calpulses are saved by station in subdirectories named equal to station names. Files within are SAC files named as in Event_Gathers. CSS3.0 database files also present here. Events_by_date/ = (on CU system)-contains links by event origin time to oridxxxx directories in Event_Gathers. (On tar tapes these are resolved to a duplicate directory of gathers). CSS/JSP database files These are maintained for quicker, more reliable access to the data. We are using the CSS3.0 schema as maintained by the JSP (Joint Seismic Program) group at CU Boulder. css3.0 = file describing schema SSSdb = db root file for station databases.Tables local to SSSdb (where SSS is the station name) are just the .wfdisc files, created by soh2db.full. These files include the time corrections from the .pcf files. (these databases usually not saved on tar tapes) Global tables common to these are those of the db "current" (see below). Only includes traces with refrate time correction. SSSdb_NoTime = db root file for station seismograms lacking refrate time corrections. Otherwise same as SSSdb All_from_YYDDD_to_ZZEEE = db root file for databases of all stations for the times from midnight on 19YY, JD DDD to midnight on JD EEE year 19ZZ (midnight at the start of the day). Only local table is .wfdisc file (though we might occasionally add a .arrival table flagging bad glitches, etc.). Uses global "current" tables. Only includes traces with refrate time correction. All_from_YYDDD_to_ZZEEE_NoTime = same as All_from_YYDDD_to_ZZEEE except these traces lack refrate time corrections. (Except for LMP in early part of experiment, errors probably quite small). current.* = db tables common to most (if not all) CSS databases made in this experiment. Includes .site, .sitechan, .origin (which is updated periodically), .sensor tables (more may be added). Event_Gathers/EventDB = db root file of database for the event gathers in subdirectories oridxxxxx. Gathers are from 200s before P to origin time + distance (km) /2.2. Only local files are .wfdisc and maybe .arrivals (flagging arrival qualities) and .assoc (relating arrivals and current.origin). Uses global files of current db. Only includes traces with refrate time correction. Event_Gathers/EventDB_NoTime = same as EventDB only it includes traces lacking a refrate time correction. Calibrations/CalDB = db root of database for calpulse gathers.Local file only .wfdisc; global files in db current. This db has ALL traces, as timing info not critical here. Scripts: Miscellaneous TCL, sh, and csh scripts used in processing (plus some small fortran codes) are in the directory "scripts." =========================== Special notes: PHR and PH2 had channels 2 and 3 assigned to E and N, respectively. This was not noticed until July '95 in processing; original day tapes prior to that date have these channels MISIDENTIFIED (day tapes including data prior to JD 95.106) when PHR had a CMG-4 (it was ok when a CMG-3 was there) and the time for PH2.
