    Dear Ami,

If you just want to try out the "transfer" command to see
if it works, you can use one of the built-in instruments
(see "help transfer", a long way down the help file,
    for a list).

e.g "funcgen impulse <parameters>" followed by "transfer to <instrument name>"

If you really need to remove the response of your instrument
from the seismogram, then you must get a pole-zero file or
a response file for your seismometer/digitiser.

If your data are in SEED format from IRIS then if you run
"rdseed" in interactive mode and answer "yes" to the queries
"extract poles and zeros" and/or "extract response file"
then you should get poles and zeros and/or a RESP file
    for your data.

If your data are from your own seismometer and
you know the make and serial number of your seismometer/digitiser,
you may be able to obtain the response from the manufacturer.
In particular, if it is a Guralp, if you send an email with
the serial number in the "Subject:" line to the address
caldoc<at>guralp.com you will receive a calibration sheet for it.
You will need to do the same for the digitiser, because the
response is a combination of the two. Again for Guralp
digitisers if you email the serial number to caldoc<at>guralp.com
you will be sent a calibration sheet. Some Guralp
seismometers have the digitiser built in, but the label should
show two serial numbers, one for the seismometer, one for the
    built-in digitiser.

    Regards,
    Sheila Peacock,
    Blacknest.
