Thread: Release of IRIS GMV’s Python 3 software for ground motion visualization

We are pleased to announce the release of IRIS GMV’s Python 3 software for ground motion visualization. By installing this package, users can produce ground motion animations similar to those available through the IRIS DMC’s Ground Motion Visualization (GMV) data product http://ds.iris.edu/ds/products/gmv/.

GMV animations illustrate how seismic waves travel away from an earthquake location by animating the normalized recorded wave amplitudes at each seismometer location using colored markers. Color of each marker depicts amplitude of the vertical ground motion, as detected by the station’s seismometer and normalized to its peak amplitude.
