Hi Michael,
Sac "reads t he files line by line and not column by column.

Try:

sac

sac> funcgen % by default function generator generates the impulse function.
sac> p % plot data in memory
sac> w alpha funcgen.dat % save data to file funcgen.dat

I you edit the funcgen.dat file, you see the 1 value in fifth column line tenth, so this
suggest me that sac read line by line.
