The year 2007 demonstrated the continued strength and ongoing growth of interest in the Consortium, with IRIS welcoming four new Voting Members-Miami University of Ohio, the University of Missouri, Rolla, the University of Rochester, and California State University, East Bay-as well as two new Educational Affiliates and twenty new Foreign Affiliates from Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. Explore the SeismoArchivesIRIS announces
the release of the SeismoArchives Website featuring scanned seismograms
from historical earthquakes. The main purpose of these
online SeismoArchives is to preserve seismograms and related
materials of significant earthquakes of the World in computer
data files so that they are readily accessible online as source
materials for research.

As
part of its mission to facilitate cooperation among seismologists
and foster free and open exchange of seismological data, IRIS intends
to make “long term loans” of instruments that are suitable
for permanent geophysical observatories. The first set of instruments
offered are six-channel, 24-bit data loggers.
