[IRIS] (Job) IRIS Outreach/Informal Education Specialist

The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), a  
university research consortium funded by the National Science  
Foundation, has an immediate opening for an individual with informal  
science education experience and a commitment to geoscience education  
to join its national Education and Outreach Program.  This  
Washington, DC based position involves a range of responsibilities  
including:  developing and maintaining museum displays, coordinating  
the school seismograph program, developing and improving print and  
Web-based educational resources, and outreach at national conferences  
and to the general public.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of training and/or  
experience in: informal science education, science writing, earth  
science including seismology, and education technology.  An  
undergraduate degree in science education, geoscience or related  
degree and excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are  
required, and an MS degree is preferred. The candidate must be able  
to work effectively and collegially with teachers, museum staff,  
members of the IRIS Consortium, and other educational partners.
