Dear Colleagues,
The earlier S11 announcement had an amusing typo in the second
sentence. My apologies; here is the corrected version.
Best,
Rick Aster
S11: Geophysical Structure and Dynamics of the Western United States
Sponsor: Seismology
Co-sponsors: Tectonophysics, Volcanology, Geochemistry, and
Petrology, Mineral and Rock Physics
Broad ranges of geological and geophysical datasets are currently
being collected and geodynamical models are in development to provide
new constraints on the structure and dynamics of the western United
States. The rich and complex tectonic processes and history of this
region are still under significant debate, thus necessitating a host
of new multidisciplinary examinations. In particular, studies of
seismological structure, models of regional deformation, and suites
of new mineralogical and petrological data will provide the improved
collection of constraints necessary to provide new insights into this
enigmatic region. New observations and models from seismology,
geodynamics, mineral physics, and petrology as they relate to this
region are encouraged, particularly those which marry complementary
datasets and methodologies.
