1) Two EarthScope townhall meetings at AGU (December 2006)
2) MARGINS-GeoSwath workshop at EarthScope national meeting (March 2007)
3) Western GeoSwath workshop (April 2007)
1) There will be two back-to-back EarthScope townhalls at the Fall
meeting of American Geophysical Union (AGU) on Thursday, December 14,
2006. The room is Salon 7 in the Marriott, and the respective times
are 6:30-7:30 pm and 7:30-8:30 pm. The first townhall meeting will
include the presentation of the new EarthScope national office
solicitation and introduction of the GeoEarthScope (including INSAR,
LiDAR, and geochronological initiatives). The second townhall meeting
is co-sponsored by IRIS and involves the "Geologic Framework for
EarthScope's USArray" initiative, which is a trans-national
integrated geological and geophysical study of the North American
continent (see EOS, 2006, 87, 221/224).
2) The bi-annual EarthScope national meeting will be held on March
27-30, 2007 at the Portola Plaza Hotel in Monterey, CA. Abstracts
are due on January 26, 2007 and registration ends February 16, 2007
(see http://www.iris.edu/earthscopenationalmeeting/). Of special
interest, there is a workshop on March 27 co-sponsored by MARGINS and
GeoSwath. This workshop is to prioritize scientific goals and to
plan possible work in two areas: a) Salton Trough-Walker Lane and b)
Cascadia. Interested workers are encouraged to apply for the
workshop, and partial travel subsidy is anticipated for several
attendees. Contact Geoff Abers (abers at bu.edu ) and/or Basil Tikoff
(basil at geology.wisc.edu).
3) A Western GeoSwath workshop is tentatively planned on April 26-29,
2007. This workshop will address the western segment of the
"Geologic Framework for EarthScope's USArray" (Oregon - South
Dakota); see EOS, 2006,87, 221/224. Details of this meeting will be
circulated and posted on the EarthScope website when they become
available; partial support toward attendance is anticipated. Contact

(grkeller at ou.edu ) and/or Basil Tikoff (basil at geology.wisc.edu).
