Title: PERMITTING ASSISTANT II

Summary:
***NOTE*** This is a TEMPORARY position expected to last
approximately 6-9 months.
This position is located in the UNAVCO PBO group that will support
the permitting staff with obtaining permit acceptance from
landowners. This individual will report to the Permitting Manager in
Boulder, but may receive direction and tasks from Regional Engineers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Assist with routine tasks associated with Permit Submission,
obtaining Permit Acceptance from Landowners, Filing of Permit
Documents, and entering information into the PBO POI/POD database.
• Prepares maps and exhibits to accompany permit application, filling
out FAA 7460-1 forms for airport sites, filling out SF-299 Federal
Right of Way Applications, and preparing other permitting documents.
• Requests and manages Liability Insurance Certificates for PBO Sites.
• Maintain the PBO Operations Database with information from the PBO
Reconnaissance reports, add and update contacts for each site, add
renewal clause information for each site, and track permit status in
the database.
• Perform telephone, email, and mail follow-ups on permits.
• Present and/or prepare briefing packets to prospective host
landowners via mail, email, web, and in-person encouraging them to
host PBO sites.
• Ensure that all insurance, permits, and payments are in place
before site installation commences.
• Incumbent may be required to conduct field recons, assist with site
installations, and to assist with regional office warehouse duties on
an occasional basis.

operation of the business.

Skills and Knowledge:
Required
• Skills in Federal land use permitting applications.
• Skills in GPS use and applications.
• Demonstrated clerical and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills. Necessary to work with the Federal,
State, Municipal, and private landowners and staff, management peers,
and supervisors.
• Working knowledge of: MS operating systems; standard personal
computer software including Word, Excel, Access; e-mail, internet,
and web interfaces; and management/accounting utilities.
• Ability to travel for 2-3 weeks at a time.
• Valid drivers license and insurable by UNAVCO.
Education and Experience
• BA or BS degree in Geography or other science or equivalent
experience.
• Experience with and working knowledge of performance measurement
(earned value) systems.
