The Seismology Group at Observatoire Midi Pyrénées (Toulouse, France)
invites applications for a posdoctoral research position in the
Planetary and Earth Dynamics laboratory.
The research program will involve carrying and developing recently
introduced techniques for high-resolution imaging of upper mantle
anisotropy. Dr. Sébastien Chevrot and Raphael Garcia will be the
postdoctoral
advisors. The successful candidate is expected to improve the numerical
methods to compute 3-D Fréchet derivatives in collaboration with Dimitri
Komatitsch at University of Pau, France, and to apply them to various
datasets in order to obtain images of upper mantle anisotropy with
a resolution of a few tens of kilometers.
Candidates should have a recent PhD in seismology or in geophysics with
a strong background in seismological data analysis and/or numerical
modeling of wave propagation. They can get more information about the
laboratory at http://w3.dtp.obs-mip.fr
The appointment is awarded for a one year period, starting no sooner
than January 2008, and can be renewed for two additional years.
Applicants should submit a resume and the names of three persons willing
to write reference letters to:
