Post Doctoral Research Scientist in the field of Seismology; Search  
Nbr:  LD 670 07 015

The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University invites  
applications for a full-time post-doctoral research position in  
observational seismology. The successful applicant will initially  
participate in the development and application of waveform cross- 
correlation and high-resolution earthquake location/tomography  
methods in the context of studying subduction zone and mid-ocean  
ridge processes at various scales. Applicants with an interest in  
seismic phase detection are also encouraged to apply. The successful  
candidate will join a large and growing group in seismology,  
tectonics, and geodynamics. The position is a full-time 1-year  
appointment, with the opportunity of continuation and growth  
depending on progress and availability of funding.

Requirements:
A recent Ph.D. in seismology, or a related discipline is required.  
Experience in digital seismogram analysis, programming skills in C,  
Fortran, and/or Matlab under Unix/Linux are desired. Experience in  
parallel computing a plus.

Salary commensurate with experience. Search will be open until  
filled, but applications submitted by August 1, 2007 will receive
