UC Berkeley Seismological Laboratory: Assistant Research Seismologist

  The Berkeley Seismological Laboratory at the University of  
California, Berkeley seeks applicants for a full-time position as an  
assistant research seismologist. The successful candidate will have  
previous experience with broadband seismic instrumentation and data  
and an interest in research topics that should, at least in part,  
utilize data collected in northern California. Possible areas of  
investigation include regional structure, earthquake and seismicity  
studies, instrumentation development, and/or real time seismology. In  
addition to research on these or other topics, he/she will  
participate in day-to-day operations of the BSL's geophysical  
networks, contributing to quality control and earthquake monitoring  
and reporting, as well as post-earthquake response, the BSL's web  
presence and representation in state, national and international  
instances.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Geophysics/Seismology and at least 2  
years experience beyond the PhD.  This position is initially for one  
year beginning in early 2008, with the possibility of extension and  
growth depending on progress and the availability of funding.
