Seismology - The Department of Geosciences at Colorado State
University seeks to fill a new position in Seismology at the
assistant professor level. The position is a 9-month tenure-track
appointment with a preferred start date of August 2008. Requirements
are a Ph.D. at the time of appointment, publications or equivalent
record of research in active and/or passive seismic imaging, and
evidence of teaching ability. Preference will be given to applicants
with a strong record of external research funding, research that
draws on field seismic observations to develop an understanding of
geological processes at the basin to lithospheric scale, and
experience working on interdisciplinary teams. The applicant’s
research and teaching interests should complement and enhance one or
more of the Department’s existing strengths in energy, mineral, and
water resources. The successful applicant is expected to teach at all
levels and develop a vigorous externally funded research program
supporting graduate students. Teaching assignments will include an
introductory undergraduate course and graduate or upper level
undergraduate courses in the hire’s specialty. Candidates who
