The IRIS Consortium is very pleased to announce that Bob Woodward has  
joined the IRIS staff in our DC office in the new position of USArray  
Director. He will be  responsible for overall coordination of USArray  
activities, with special emphasis on support of science goals and  
links to the research community.

Bob has an excellent scientific and technical background and brings   
strong management experience to IRIS. He received his Ph.D in Earth   
Sciences from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of   
California San Diego and a BA in Geophysics and Applied Mathematics   
from the University of California, Berkeley. He did a post doc at  
Harvard with Adam Dziewonski. He has worked on the GSN program with   
the U.S. Geological Survey, in Albuquerque, and most recently, he   
worked at Scientific Applications International Corporation (SAIC)  
in  VA. as a Program Manager on a variety of seismological and  
advanced  technology projects.
