Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Seismology

As part of the Afar Consortium we have an opening for Postdoctoral
Research Fellow to help with the maintenance of a temporary
seismological array in northern Ethiopia and carry out seismological
research on the region. The post is fixed term for 2 years, with the
possibility of further funding.
A 38 station temporary network (NSF and NERC) of broadband
seismometers will be deployed in northern Ethiopia from early
November 2007 for 2 years. These recordings, combined with data from
our previous network in Ethiopia (EAGLE project), will be used to
study crust and upper mantle structure in the region. You should be
knowledgeable in seismological analysis and have an interest in
determining Earth structure. You will be based in Leeds at the School
of Earth and Environment and will work with our seismological
research group.
You will have, or expect to gain, a first rate PhD degree in
seismology or other relevant science discipline. You should have
excellent communication skills including written and be prepared to
carry out seismological fieldwork in northern Ethiopia.
University Grade 7 (£27,466 - £32,796p.a.) according to
qualifications and experience. It is likely that an appointment will
be made below £29,139p.a. Since there are funding limitations which
dictate the level at which the appointment can start.
