Dear Colleagues,

This note is to invite you to submit an abstract to the Special Sessions
S05 and S07 of Spring AGU Joint Assembly 27-30 May in Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida. The abstract deadline is 5 March 2008.

S05: The August 15, 2007 Pisco-Peru Earthquake
The recent Mw=8 earthquake in south-central Peru caused more than 500
fatalities in the Pisco - Ica region. Initial studies reveal that this
earthquake was mainly composed by two sub-events, one located near Pisco
and the other at the coast, close to Ica city. To better understand the
fault process and extended damage, contributions on field observations,
ground motion, site effects, source spectrum, focal mechanism, and crustal
deformation of this very long duration earthquake, are welcome.

and

S07: The Tocopilla, Chile Earthquake of November 14, 2007, Mw 7.7
We welcome contributions about field observations, ground motions, site
effects, source spectrum, source mechanisms, aftershock studies, and
crustal deformation of this destructive, Mw =7.7, earthquake in the
northern Chilean subduction zone. We also invite discussions on the
implications for potential hazard in the southern Peru-northern Chile
seismic gap.

The deadline for submission is March 5 2359 UT. You can access abstract
submission web page at: http://www.agu.org/meetings/ja08/ to see meeting
details and a list of the pre-planned sessions.

Please pass this information to colleagues you think might be interested.

Thank you,
