Dear Colleagues,

As you will remember, we are planning to have a special edition of
PAGEOPH called the Evison Symposium.

The deadline for submissions is a few weeks away, so please be sure to
prepare your articles to send in time. We will be accepting articles
electronically. You can email them to me or to one of the other guest
editors below. We are also trying to get a web site set up for
downloading, in case files are too big to email.

Kind Regards,

Dear Colleagues,

We plan to publish a special issue in PAGEOPH to be entitled:
Seismogenesis and Earthquake Forecasting: The Frank Evison Volume. The
goal of this volume is to bring together work from scientists and
students working in the fields of seismogenesis and earthquake
forecasting, and to honour our late colleague Frank Evison who was a
pioneer in the field. It will include papers stemming from and related
to a workshop held in Wellington, New Zealand between 18-22 Feb. 2008
(described in: http://www.gns.cri.nz/evisonsymposium). The papers will
present a cross section of the current work on seismogenesis and
earthquake forecasting. Please note: You do not need to have attended
the symposium to contribute to the volume. If you would like to
contribute to the volume, please send us a likely title, and we will put
your name on our mailing list. See the schedule below:

Schedule for Editorial Process:
1 August 2008: Submission deadline
1 Sept. 2008: Articles out to reviewers
1 Dec. 2008 Reviews back from reviewers
15 January 2009: Decisions made by editors
1 May 2009: Revisions returned
1 June 2009: Final Decisions made by editors

Seismogenesis

*	Physical processes and conditions affecting earthquake
occurrence
*	Conceptual, physical and statistical modelling of the earthquake
preparation process
*	Systematic empirical studies of proposed earthquake precursors
*	Precursory seismicity patterns and their physical meaning
*	Statistical evidence concerning the existence of earthquake
precursors on any time scale

 Earthquake forecasting
*	Models of time-varying earthquake occurrence
*	Regional earthquake likelihood models
*	Earthquake prediction algorithms
*	Testing and assessing earthquake forecasts of different types
*	Comparative performance and information value of earthquake
forecasting models
*	Communication of earthquake forecasts, and implications for
countermeasures planning
