The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), www.iris.edu
, is a consortium of universities that obtains and manages
instrumentation systems for use by the academic community to advance
Earth science. IRIS is managing the USArray component of the
EarthScope Project (www.EarthScope.org) and is responsible for the
installation of seismometers across the U.S. as a 400 element seismic

criteria and the likelihood of a permit. In either case, interactions
with landowners to ensure the project activities are understood and

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills to
explain the need for the Transportable Array, discuss the goals of
EarthScope, and explain earthquake science to various publics,
including landowners. Knowledge of earthquake monitoring
instrumentation, and communication technologies such as RF signal
diagnostics, IP networking, digital cellular network and field VSAT
installations are highly desirable.

Minimum Qualifications:

that work in a specific geographic location will take approximately 2
years and will initially be focused in Idaho, Utah, Arizona, New
Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana and will move eastward about
one state per year.

For full consideration, submit a letter of interest, resume, desired
