Post Doctoral Research Scientist in the field of Earthquake Seismology
(Search Nbr: LD 670 08 008) :
The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University invites
applications for a full-time post-doctoral research position in
Earthquake Seismology. The successful applicant will participate in
analysis of broadband seismic data from several subduction zones
emphasizing new data sets for Cascadia and southern Alaska, and
integration with other regional or global studies. These datasets are
being collected now, and provide ample opportunity for a wide variety of
studies of structure and dynamics through modern broadband imaging
methods. The successful candidate will join a large and growing group in
seismology, tectonics, and geodynamics. The position is a full-time
1-year appointment, with the opportunity of continuation and growth
depending on progress and availability of funding.
Requirements:
A recent Ph.D. in seismology, or a related discipline is required.
Specific research methods will depend upon the background and interests
of the applicant, but could include amplitude and phase tomography,
regional and teleseismic scattered-wave imaging from a variety of
methods, analysis of earthquake sources, and integration of seismic
observations with geodynamic and petrologic constraints.
Search will stay open for 30 days after the ad appears. Applicants
should submit a personal statement describing research experience and
interests, a curriculum vitae, and the names and addresses of three
references, to:
