The intention of the International Scientific Studies conference
(ISS'09), organized by the CTBTO in VIenna, June 10-12, 2009, is to
provide a forum for dialogue between scientists, diplomats and the
media, on issues related to the capability and readiness of the
Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty's (CTBT) verification regime.

- This is the ice-breaking opportunity for the seismological community
to cooperate with IMS, with a clear mechanism for data access in the
framework of ISS'09: specific data requests, specifying a time period,
a set of stations can be made by sending e-mail to
iss at ctbto.org.
In this framework, data can also be requested to demonstrate the
usefulness of the IMS network for basic science.

There is an opportunity for travel support for junior researchers at
US academic institutions from NSF. FOr information, contact Barbara
Romanowicz (barbara at seismo.berkeley.edu).
