Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), </b>a non-profit consortium of 110
universities with national and international research programs in seismology,
is seeking a Policy Associate to develop activities and secure funding for<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>sustainable
technical infrastructure and development of human capacity in low- and middle
income countries. Programs will support seismological research education and
training, hazard mitigation, and resource exploration.</p><p class="MsoNormal">Specific responsibilities include: Initiating/promoting
collaborative partnerships with Government agencies, development banks,
academic institutions, industry, and private foundations; Collaborating with
consortium members, program managers, and partners to identify new activities
and funding mechanisms to leverage existing IRIS resources; Providing staff support for IRIS Standing Committee for
International Development Seismology; Writing and editing reports and
proposals; Performing research, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and
program assessment.</p><p class="MsoNormal">The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors Degree (Masters
preferred) in Public Policy or International Affairs and demonstrated
professional interest and experience in science, technology and geophysics,
plus familiarity with US Government agencies and private foundations that fund
geophysical disaster mitigation and recovery in low-and middle income
countries.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Must also possess
