<html><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; "><div>The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) seeks two Product Specialists to conceive and develop scientific products at the IRIS Data Management Center (DMC) in Seattle. This is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals to be a part of an international seismological data center and participate in the EarthScope project. These positions are part of an exciting new direction for the DMC in developing derived data products that will further serve as research resources. Products will be identified and developed in consultation with the IRIS DMS Data Products Working Group and other members of the community. The range of product types can potentially span all of the research fields supported by EarthScope and will involve interaction with IRIS and related academic communities. Examples of data products that the DMC will investigate are ground motion animations, tomographic model displays, synthetic seismograms and pre-processed seismic waveforms.<br><br>The selected applicants will perform the following duties:<br><br>* Identification and specification of data products in coordination with the Data Products Working Group<br><br>* Prototyping of new data products in coordination with the DMC software development team.<br><br>Successful applicants should have an understanding of modern seismological practices and data methods, particularly with experience in time series analysis. A Masters degree or higher in geophysics would be a distinct advantage. Applicants should have experience with a Unix/Solaris/Mac OSX operating environment and have at least basic Unix shell programming capability; experience with Perl, or other programming languages would be advantageous. Experience with MATLAB would be a distinct advantage. Familiarity with relational database systems and operational experience with large amounts of data are also desirable.<br><br>IRIS is a university consortium with more than 100 institutional members.
