Our record in Montana appears to be a classic textbook example of easy-to-read arrivals. We'll be using this one!!!

I had the good fortune to be looking at my screen when waves from a quake in Alaska started rolling in. I have an Advisory class at that time, so I was able to take advantage of the open structure of this "class" to seize the moment and teach them some seismology.
I found another site that posts current seismic data from a variety of recording stations to show them that the strongest waves were in Alaska, so that was likely where the quake occurred, and then used the IRIS site to show them the report of this quake, it's magnitude, etc.
One student even asked prior to that if I could tell what the magnitude was from my instrument. We just didn't have time in this 20 minute period to try it ourselves. Now if I can only get enough students for a section of geology to run next fall.......
