The UNOLS Marcus Langseth Science Oversight Committee (MLSOC) has sent
the following reminder about the August 15, 2016 deadline for active and
passive seismic project proposals:

Langseth Proposals for NSF-OCE August 15, 2016 Deadline
A Reminder from the Marcus Langseth Science Oversight Committee

The MLSOC encourages all PIs interested in active and passive seismic
projects using the R/V Langseth to submit proposals for the upcoming
August 15 NSF deadline. Ideally, proposals should precede planned
experiments by 18-30 months, but there may still be opportunities to fit
into the late FY2017 – early FY2018 schedule in the SE Pacific. The
regional plan for FY2018 places the Langseth in the SW Pacific.
Consequently, August 15 proposals are encouraged for operations along
the transit from the SE to SW Pacific, the SW Pacific, and the Indian
Ocean. Proposals for the N Pacific may be considered, but are unlikely
to be scheduled before 2019. We encourage you to contact your NSF
Program Manager to discuss details.

Also note that NSF has changed its policy on proposals with UNOLS ship
time requests: these proposals can now be submitted for the February
15th deadline (see the Summer 2016 edition of the NSF-OCE newsletter,
Making Waves).
