projects involving wide-angle, active-source data collected on

results and interpretations with those of a companion
multi-channel seismic reflection study led by collaborators at

A graduate student interested in geodynamic modeling is sought
to study the time-dependent growth of volcanic loads and
resulting mechanical response of the oceanic lithosphere. This
student will incorporate seismic results with computer
simulations of lithospheric loading and flexure to address
issues related to geomagnetic observations as well as
lithosphere rheology. Applicants should have a strong
background in math and physics; experience in computer modeling

Absolute plate motion over moving hotspots<br>

methodologies to constrain absolute plate motion (APM) models,
using a variety of geophysical data, and investigate the range
of plume motion and true polar wander allowed by current data.

Tectonic reorganizations of the North Atlantic south of Iceland<br>
<blockquote>A graduate student is sought to participate in a
marine geophysical research cruise, Summer 2019, and work on
magnetic anomaly, gravity and multi-beam bathymetry data to
understand the tectonic evolution of the seafloor spreading
system south of Iceland (the Reykjanes Ridge). A focus will be
on how transform faults and other ridge axis discontinuities
form, evolve, and are eliminated. Applicants should have a good
understanding of plate tectonic theory and background in math
and physics; experience in computer programming is desirable.

The Structural Seismology Group at the Research and Development
(R&D) Center for Earthquake and Tsunami (CEAT), Japan Agency
for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), is soliciting
applications for two Postdoctoral Researcher positions in a
research project entitled “Subduction Zone Observation and
Monitoring for Hazard Mitigation”, which is an integrated
seismogenic zone research project through seismic surveys,
seafloor observations, and monitoring earthquakes and tsunamis.<br>

system and/or ocean bottom seismometers.<br>
