[SAC-HELP] IFTYPE set to IXY or IXYZ

I'm trying to use wsac0 with some home-grown fortran code. I get
errors after apparently normal compilation:

ERROR: Illegal enumerated header field value: IXY 4
?
ERROR: Illegal enumerated header field value: IXYZ?e?

I have set the IFTYPE several different ways in the call:

ftype = 'IXY' (ftype defined character*4)
call setihv('IFTYPE',ftype,nerr)

or

call setihv('IFTYPE','IXY',nerr)

Nothing works. Looks like there is garbage at the end of the
string, to judge from the error messages above.

Anybody solved this problem?

     Thanks!
