[SAC-HELP] Units and magnitude for dependent variables in SAC files

I am a VERY new user for the SAC data files and working on a window system.
Currently, I'm using a MATLAB function (rsac) to convert sac files to a
usable data format (3 columns: time, dependent variable, header
information). I've been able to figure out the time units used, but am
having trouble deciphering the units, magnitude, and form of the dependent
variable. How can I determine if the dependent variable is acceleration,
displacement, velocity, etc? Also, is there a way that I can determine the
magnitude of the dependent variable (i.e. x 10^-3, etc).
Thanks for your help!
