<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>Dear Colleagues,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> Recently, I have requested
to the IRIS a copy of Linux version of SAC. In response</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>to this request, Mr. Tim Knight from IRIS sent me
two e-mail's with the following files :</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>1 - The files of the first e-mail are the
following :</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> 05Mar01.sac.bin.linux.tgz
(394 bytes)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> 05Mar01.sac.bin.linux.tgz
(1.61 MB)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> sac_license.txt (12.2
KB)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>2 - The files of the second e-mail are the
following :</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> 05Mar01.sac.tgz (385
bytes)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> 05Mar01.sac.tgz (2.57
MB)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> Readme.buildsac (1.37
KB)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> sac_license.txt (12.2
KB)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> The problems and doubts
associated with those files are the following :</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>1 - First of all, I thought strange that files
<STRONG>05Mar...</STRONG> have the same names. It generates</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> a problem that can
be easily solved. However, is it correct ?</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>2 - Both <STRONG>05Mar01.sac.bin.linux.tgz
(394 bytes)</STRONG> and <STRONG>05Mar01.sac.tgz (385 bytes)</STRONG>
files</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> have problems because
after changes their names I could not open them.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>3 - What is the difference between the first set of
files and the second one ?</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>4 - As recommended, I put both
<STRONG>05Mar01.sac.bin.linux.tgz (1.61 MB)</STRONG> and</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>
<STRONG>05Mar01.sac.tgz (2.57 MB)</STRONG> in the following place
:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial
size=3>
/usr/local</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> A very important
information is that we are using a <STRONG>Linux Mandrake 8.2</STRONG>. I
saw in the</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=3><FONT face=Arial>Readme file that </FONT><FONT face=Arial>SAC
was build in both <STRONG>Redhat and Debian</STRONG>. Thus, is it possible
to</FONT></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>run it on Mandrake or I must use Redhat or Debian
?</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> I opened the tar files and
the sac directory was automatically constructed. Then, I went </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>to src directory and <STRONG>make clean</STRONG>
and finally <STRONG>make</STRONG>. After apply the make command I
got</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>the following message :</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>make SAC</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>make[1]: Entering directory
`/usr/local/sac/src'</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>cd main; make sac.o</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>make[2]: Entering directory
`/usr/local/sac/src/main'</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>cc -w -c -I../../inc sac.c</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>cc:installation problem, cannot exec `cpp0': No
such file or directory</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>make[2]:***[sac.o] Error 1</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>make[2]: Leaving directory
`/usr/local/sac/src/main'</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>make[1]:***[main/sac.o] Error 2</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>make[1]: Leaving directory
`/usr/local/sac/src'</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3>make:***[all] Error 2</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=3> I would like to thank
you for your help in advance.</FONT></DIV>
