From webmaster at iris.washington.edu Tue Feb 3 10:28:45 2015 From: webmaster at iris.washington.edu (IRIS Webmaster) Date: Tue, 3 Feb 2015 10:28:45 -0800 Subject: [software-info] JWEED version 4.1.2 release -- older versions will not function after February 4 Message-ID: <7B1B6B8A-23C6-4E3F-AE93-776C6D6059C5@iris.washington.edu> Announcing JWEED version 4.1.2, available for download from IRIS DMC. To ensure uninterrupted use of JWEED all users are strongly encouraged to update as soon as possible. The DMC will making an fdsnws-station service change incompatible with previous versions of JWEED on or shortly after February 4th. In addition to this change, a number of crashing bugs have been addressed. You can download the JWEED installer by registering here: http://ds.iris.edu/ds/nodes/dmc/forms/jweed/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Description: JWEED is a Java client that allows seamless access to events, stations, and waveforms from IRIS DMC's Web Services. Using a zoom-able map, a user can find desired earthquakes, locate responding stations, and download event-oriented waveforms directly to their computer. Data can be plotted on screen and saved to SAC, miniSEED, and ASCII data files. Station response information can also be accessed through this tool. This tool can also be used to generate and email BREQ_FAST requests using earthquake travel time windows. Record-section plots can be generated from event-oriented data queries. Waveform plots can be converted to images for display and printing. JWEED allows users to access real-time and archived data for a desired period of time. When looking at real-time data, JWEED will automatically update the plots as data arrives. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is new in Version 4.1.2: This version fixes various bugs related to changes to the FDSN web service output formats. In particular: * Added support for empty location codes (now represented by a blank string rather than 2 spaces or "--") * Better parsing of QuakeML, in particular variations in formatting of magnitude data * Fixed a bug that caused a crash when an existing config file contained older server definitions This version also adds a change in the startup display. The most recent version of the JWEED readme.txt file is downloaded from the server, and if it has changed from the last startup, JWEED will start up with the readme panel displayed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more information on how to use this new version of JWEED and all of its features, please consult the updated online manual: http://ds.iris.edu/ds/nodes/dmc/manuals/jweed/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maintainer: Adam Clark, IRIS Data Management Center
