The Swiss Seismological Service (SED) is working on a full integration of its real time earthquake monitoring and research data, in order to create a unique knowledge base for understanding earthquake activity and seismic hazard in Switzerland.
To support this effort, we are looking for an enthusiastic

database / web application developer.


A successful candidate should have the following education and skills:

- Bachelor or higher degree in computer sciences, with some background and a strong interest in science, or a degree in science with proven working experience as an IT developer

- Fluency in SQL

- Good knowledge of Java, JavaScript, SOA/web services, and related technologies

- Experience with a Linux- and widely FOSS-based environment

- Experience in python and spatial data / mapping are welcome

- Demonstrated inter-personal skills in team work as well as with customers and supervisors

This is a diverse, interesting, and demanding all-round job including development, operations, and customer interaction. It is offered at 80-100%. The position is open immediately, for two years with the possibility of extension.
