Hi all,
I am trying to read a SGY file into SAC. I went through older messages in SAC help and I saw it could be done directly using read command in SAC. But when I try it I get the following message: "Error 1301: No data files read in". I there any SGY to SAC convertor that I shall use before reading the data?
Best regards,
Zoya

    Hi,
Can you share some SGY (segy) files?
    Remember that sac read:

SEGY: Read file formatted according to the IRIS/PASSCAL form of

the SEGY format. This format allows one waveform per file.

    Cheers,

    M.

    Dear All -

The BRIS version of SAC accepts a somewhat wider range of SEGY input file types. The help info says,

SEGY: Read file formatted according to the SEGY format (Norris and
Faichney, 2002). The PASSCAL variant is assumed, but the SEG
forms (rev 0 and rev 1) may be read using TYPE SEG (see below).
The PASSCAL format is essentially the SEG form stripped of the
textual and binary file headers (3200 bytes and 400 bytes,
respectively) with only a trace header and data for one trace. The
trace header type must be seismic (1). For either format, SAC will
read only one waveform per file.
