We seek a PhD student for a fully-funded position at the Research School of Earth Sciences, The Australian National University. The student will work on an ARC-funded project aimed at developing and applying novel seismic techniques for shallow earth imaging and groundwater monitoring of the Great Artesian Basin, NE Australia.

The student will ideally have good seismological knowledge, a strong maths, and programming background. The project includes participation with field deployments, maintenance, and outreach activities if of interest to the student.

The PhD is funded for 3.5 years and includes a full studentship including intuition fees plus $28.8k AUD annual stipend. The successful applicant will be joining a lively group of seismologists, mathematical geophysicists and geodynamicists with interests in various aspects of global and regional geophysical problems at ANU (https://earthsciences.anu.edu.au/research/research-areas/geophysics). The starting date is flexible but is ideal to commence in the first half of 2022.

Please send expressions of interest including a CV with contact information for 2 references, and a two-page cover letter with research interests to Dr. Chengxin Jiang (chengxin.jiang1<at>anu.edu.au). Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
