Dear colleagues (apologies for cross-posting),

INGV has a vacant researcher position related to numerical modeling of earthquakes, tsunamis and assessment of their hazards.

Deadline: 12 September 2022.

The position is initially for 12 months, renewable based on performance.

The successful candidate will work in Rome in a large group involved in several international research projects such as Eflows4HPC, DT-GEO, Geo-INQUIRE, ChEESE-2P. The candidate will therefore have a unique chance to collaborate with many international partners.

Moreover, the research activity is expected to contribute to the improvement of the operational tools used by the INGV Tsunami Warning Center (CAT-INGV), and to the tsunami hazard assessment at different scales from the global one (in the framework of the Global Tsunami Model), to the local scale, for Civil Protection applications.

Please consider that the call is written in Italian, and the application must be compiled in Italian as well. Nonetheless, the CV can be provided in English.

The exam will consist of two phases: one written test, and one oral test. Both phases will be conducted in English.

During the oral test, the candidate must also show basic conversation and text-understanding skills in Italian.
