We have an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher to perform original and independent research to support Geophysical Monitoring Programs (GMP). You will develop and apply seismic full-waveform modeling methods to construct refined Earth models for improved nuclear explosion monitoring capabilities, including seismic source and wave propagation characterizations. You will also work within a talented group of scientists within the broader GMP team at LLNL and have access to world-class high-performance computer systems. This position is in the Seismology group within the Atmospheric, Earth, and Energy Division.

In this role you will:
Conduct independent research using seismic full-waveform inversion techniques and elastic wave propagation to construct advanced multi-resolution Earth models.
Implement software applications and methods on large high-performance computing platforms at LLNL.
Explore new software technology for improved Earth modeling and computational efficiency.
Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team including geophysicists, seismologists, and computer scientists to accomplish research goals.
Interact with sponsors, customers, partners, and data providers including universities, U.S. government agencies, and other national laboratories.
Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals. Present work at conferences and other technical forums.
Perform other duties as assigned.
