The University of Missouri-Columbia Geophysics group is seeking
applicants for a Post-Doctoral research position starting in June
1st, 2007. The position will offer the candidate an opportunity to
work on several large multi-disciplinary geophysical projects on the
earth’s greatest orogenic belts. These projects include the PUNA
project in the central Andes and the INDEPHT-IV project in the
Tibetan plateau. The position will involve processing, analyzing,
and interpreting passive source seismic data from a variety of
existing and planned broadband deployments. Specifically the
candidates will work on creating three dimensional images of the
seismic structure of upper mantle using tomographic methods and
waveform modeling. Qualified applicants must hold a Ph.D. at the
time of appointment. Highest priority will be given to candidates
with experience in deploying and maintaining broadband seismic
stations as well experience in processing seismic waveforms.
The selected candidate will become a member of a strong and growing
group of solid earth geophysicists at the University of Missouri.
Currently this group is conducting research in marine geophysics,
