A proposal is being prepared for long-term Operations and Maintenance
support for the EarthScope Facilities being developed under the
current EarthScope NSF MRE award. Construction of the EarthScope
facilities will be completed by November 2008. Your help is needed
immediately in developing a compelling proposal for EarthScope
Facilities O&M to support operations after the completion of the
construction phase.

The O&M Proposal will be submitted in mid-March, 2007, as a
collaborative proposal by IRIS, UNAVCO, and Stanford University. The
format of the proposal will be similar to that of recent IRIS and
UNAVCO 5-year proposals, with a core proposal and separate appendices
containing facilities descriptions and research highlights in the
form of contributed 1-pagers.

This message seeks your contribution of 1-pagers to help provide the
scientific rationale for maintaining the EarthScope facilities. We
seek 1-pagers for any and all research applications utilizing
existing EarthScope data. We expect that many figures and results can
be extracted from recent AGU talks and posters, or abstracts being
prepared for the upcoming EarthScope National Meeting.

Due to the tight schedule for preparing the EarthScope O&M Proposal,
you are asked to submit your one-page project summary no later than
                                  Monday February 19, 2007.
A web submission tool:
                           http://www.iris.edu/submit/onepager
is available to help organize material for rapid production of a well-
structured proposal.
Details on the submission process are provided.

Your assistance is helping to provide a solid case for maintaining
this important facility is greatly appreciated.
